Super Eagles match N200m PGF boost with super win against S’Africa

SPORTS-LOVING Imo State Gov. Hope Uzodimma, leading colleagues of the Progressives Governors’ Forum, announced a whopping N200 million support boost for the Super Eagles only hours to their eventual triumph at AFCON 2023.
Uzodimma is also current chairman of the Southeast Governors’ Forum.
The Super Eagles, currently gunning for the trophy at the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tourney in Côte d’Ivoire took on the Bafana Banana of S’Africa in the semi-final encounter, a few hours ago in Bouake, which Nigeria won.
Gov. Uzodimma who has consistently sent words of encouragement to the Super Eagles players since the tournament got to it’s critical stages, has also promised total support that will make Nigeria lift the trophy.
In a statement, Oguwike Nwachuku, the governor’s chief press secretary and media adviser (CPS/MA) reports the governor to have said that, “no amount of support extended to the Super Eagles players who are currently making Nigeria proud in Cote d’Ivoire, and on their way to making another continental history for the country, will be a waste.”
Nigeria won the game late last night on penalties after a one-all regulation finish.
Reports show that Minister of Sports Development Sen. John Owan Enoh received ferocious applause in the Eagles’ camp when he broke news of the governors’ largesse to the Super Eagles.
As it turned out, the Eagles went through a crucible and won.
Sen. Enoh is reported to have said: “I thank the Progressive Governors’ Forum under the leadership of Gov. Hope Uzodimma of Imo State for galvanizing and redeeming N200mn to the Super Eagles of Nigeria who are currently in Cote d’Ivoire for AFCON 2023.”
