Abia: police arrest ex-gov’s Chief of Staff Agbazuere

OPERATIVES of the Abia State police command have arrested Prof. A.C.B. Agbazuere, former Chief of Staff to the state governor.
He later became candidate of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) for Isiala-Ngwa North and South federal constituency in the 2023 general election.
He is presently being held at Bende Road state headquarters of the police in Umuahia.
He is said to have been arrested while preparing to honour the invitation of the state Panel on Recovery of Government Properties set up by Gov. Alex Otti.
It is gathered that the ex-CoS had also filed a suit at the Federal High Court over “harassment and intimidation” by the panel concerning a PRADO Jeep duly issued to him as take-home by the administration of Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu.
Agbazuere has alleged that he is being persecuted by the Alex Otti-led government of Abia State.
He says while he was away to Abuja, a letter of invitation from Abia property recovery panel was dropped with his gateman after which a bench warrant was issued against him, which he says is not the right procedure.
He says he wonders why he is the only person invited by the panel, saying he has approached the federal high court. Despite being served the court notice, Agbazuere wonders why the police issued a bench warrant.
He says upon his arrival from Abuja on Tuesday evening and was ready to honour the invitation of the recovery panel set up by the state government.
On Wednesday (yesterday) morning, a large team of policemen arrived his home to effect his arrest.
As at the moment of this report, he had reported at the state police headquarters and was waiting arrival of the state Commissioner of Police Kene Onwuemelie.
