Edo State in the eye of the storm over 2024 gov’ship election

CentralNews Monday Politics is today dedicated nearly entirety to the whirlwind currently engulfing Edo State: preparing for the off-cycle governorship election coming up in Q3 2024.
One commentator is charging that equity could only be served if the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) cedes its governorship ticket for the election to Edo-North which the writer claims the PDP has never done before.
Another charges that “godfatherism” which nearly completely ruined political amity in the state, is creeping back in through Gov. Godwin Obaseki, while yet another argues for Deputy Gov. Philip Shaibu to be rewarded for patriotism by being honoured with nomination for governor.
There is more and the summary is that Edo is agog politically as the process for the nominations for the governorship gathers momentum.
