Federal Varsity Lokoja honours philanthropist Adegoke with a doctorate of letters degree

EMINENT Nigerian philanthropist, humanitarian and founder-cum-benefactor of Maigida Charity Foundation, Dr. Samson Adewale Adegoke Maigida has been honoured by the Federal University, Lokoja, in Kogi State.
On Saturday, October 21, 2023, at the 6th and 7th Convocation ceremonies of the university, he received the Doctor of Letters Degree (D.Litt) Honoris Causa.
In a statement made available to the press Adegboyega Ogunosun, media consultant to the Foundation, states that the conferment of the Doctorate Degree on Dr. Samson Adewale Adegoke Maigida is in recognition of his immense contributions to the growth and academic empowerment of Nigerian youths.
Of particular note, the statement says, is Dr. Adegoke’s philanthropic activities and supports for public schools and development of education as well as his interventionist programmes in the health sector in Nigeria.
The statement further confirms that Dr. Samson Adewale Adegoke Maigida has over the years committed himself through his Maigida Charity Foundation, to the development of the nation’s tertiary institutions through sole sponsorships of various physical projects in several institutions across the country.
The foundation has also continued to grant full scholarships to several indigent students to study both within and outside the shores of Nigeria.
Read part of the statement: “Dr. Samson Adewale Adegoke through the Maigida Charity Foundation donated a post-graduate e-library to Nasarawa State University in Keffi, and another Alumni e-library to Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.
“He has also been generous in the areas of health, constructing a maternity ward in the Oyo State General Hospital in Ogbomoso and a model public hospital in Oko town, both in Oyo State, while hundreds of Nigerian students are currently on his scholarships home and abroad.”
Dr. Adegoke Maigida recently received a huge commendation from the Oyo State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for his philanthropic gestures in the state. He has also continued to receive accolades and awards from various institutions, organisations and groups.
Others honored at the Lokoja ceremony included Hon. James Abiodun Faleke of the Federal House of Representatives and Dr. Ernest Afolabi Umakhihe, permanent secretary of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
